Food diary, day 1
Today, we went to the doctor for Lila’s 5-year-old physical (she’s almost 6. Add it to my list of #momfails).

Her weight today: 71 pounds.
Her blood pressure was 110/61. That’s so high they checked it three times to see if it was incorrect. It wasn’t.
Her weight is in the 99th percentile. Her height is in the 61st.
That my sweet girl is overweight is not news to me. That her blood pressure is so high that if it doesn’t come down in six months she needs to go to a cardiologist was.
What’s the answer for high blood pressure?
One thing: weight loss. She literally needs to take some weight off her heart, the doctor said.
So, ok, let’s try this, Baby A.
Food diary today:
Breakfast - one healthy brand of an Eggo waffle with Nutella and strawberries (this was before the doctor’s appointment).
Morning snack - a handful of tiny Trader Joe’s oatmeal raisin cookies (again, before the appointment). And a diet Sunkist soda.
Lunch - half a peanut butter and banana sandwich, strawberries, blueberries, and broccoli with ranch. She did not eat the blueberries.
Snack - smoothie with ice, green grapes, banana, half a pear and almond milk.
Dinner - veggie burger with cheese, broccoli and carrots with ranch, corn on the cob. She did not eat the carrots.
Exercise - morning walk around the neighborhood (probably 15-20 minutes) and swimming at the public pool for 90 minutes. She actively swam at least 75 of those minutes. She was never out of the pool. I’m hoping to get her outside in a minute for a bike ride around the neighborhood, too.
Her weight today: 71 pounds.
